Macro-nutrients series – Carbohydrates, its types, benefits of carbohydrates and its side effect
Hey, guys, l hope you are fine and doing great in your life. But to do great you need great health. So today I am bringing new series. It is a new article series of six articles where I will discuss macro nutrients in detail. So be with me to know about carbohydrates aka carbs.
What are macronutrients aka macros?
Macros are the nutrients that are required by our body in a larger quantity ranging from 100 gram to 400 hundred gram in general case for acquiring energy for the functioning of the body and to perform day to day life task.
There are three types of macronutrients
In this series, I will explain each macronutrient in details.
So starting with carbohydrates.
What are carbohydrates?
The name carbohydrates generate from its chemical components as it consists of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.
Carbs are mainly in the form of fibers, sugars, and starches in the food item like grains milk, fruit, and vegetables.
It is the main source of energy for our body, as the body converts it into glucose and thus helps us in doing our work.
Types of carbohydrates
On the basis of digestion time, carbohydrates are classified into two types- 1. Simple carbs 2. Complex carbs
1.Simple carbohydrates – its benefits and side effects
Simple carbs are the type of carbs which digest and absorb by our body quickly.
Simple carbs are those carbs which consist of one.,two sugar or refined sugar.
Now you must be wondering what is one sugar, two sugar, and refined sugar. I will explain this with the example.
One sugar-galactose mainly found in milk, fruit sugar also called fructose.
Two sugar – lactose found in dairy products, maltose mainly found in some vegetables and some of the booze items like beers, sucrose
Refined sugar – this is the most common sugar, you might use in day to day life and households. It is found in everything like sweets, candy, tea, coffee, chocolates etc. These are the most useless type of sugar and does not have any vitamins and minerals. They are also called empty calories which only gains your weight and are responsible for lots of diseases.
Side effects of simple carbs
It digested and absorbed quickly by the body so it increases the weight of the body so fast.
It spikes your blood sugar level and unstable sugar level can cause headaches, mood swings, low feeling syndrome and for a long time can cause disease like diabetes.
Simple carbs increase the risk of heart disease, obesity and many more.
Simple carbs accelerate aging process as by combining with protein in the bloodstream it creates pre-age wrinkles, skin loosening, and pimples and acne.
Simple carbs especially refined sugar destroy your teeth from inside causing tooth pain and many more.
Benefits of simple carbs
As they digest quickly so provide quick energy to our body. That is the reason leading energy drink manufacturer use so much simple sugar in their drink as they provide quick energy to our body.
So simple carbs are best for athletes or person needs quick energy.
Food containing simple carbs
White rice, Sweets, candy, fruits, vegetables.all-purpose flour.white bread etc.
All I WANT TO SUGGEST YOU, PLEASE STOP EATING SIMPLE CARBS IF YOU DON’T NEED IT. IT MAY KILL YOU SLOWLY AS IT ACTS LIKE SLOW POISON.
