Dietary fats and its benefits

Hey guys,hope you are doing great in life, this is another article on macros series, in earlier, I already discussed simple carbs, complex carbs, proteins, body fats and how body fat is different from dietary fat.
In this article, I am going to talk about dietary fats and its type saturated fats, unsaturated fats and trans fats.
What is fat?
Fat is one of the macronutrients which body require in larger quantity. 1 gram of fat consists of 9 calories whereas one gram of carb consists of 4 calories and 1 gram of protein consist of 4 calories.
So in short if I say then fat give more energy than protein and carbs. Now the question is if fat gives more energy than carbs then why carbs are famous for the energy provider. The answer is the digestion of fat are quite complex and body takes so much time in digesting fat, so it’s not wiser choice to get energy.
Fats are an essential part of the diet, and in terms of price also fat lies in between protein and carbs.
Side effects and benefits dietary fats
As it contains higher calories so eating so much can lead to increase In calories count which results in a surplus of maintenance calories( the calories you need to perform normal day to day life activity ) which result in weight gain. So it is the advisable quantity in which fats should be taken.
As fats are of different different type, so some fats are healthy, some are not healthy and some are in between. So fats are believed to cause many diseases but I ‘ll explain later on which type is healthy for you, which fats are unhealthy and what are the quantities you should take.
So that you can understand fats are not that much unhealthy or not actually make you fat. There is a myth that actually dietary fat makes you fat, so many people who do weight loss diet, they completely stop the supply of fat from outside which leads to many issues. The main reason for fat is carbs especially simple carbs or empty calories. Fats are very very important nutrients which do lots of function of the body. Even the glow of the skin and body is due to only fat.

Types of fats

There are three types of fats that different food item contains
1. Saturated fats (also known as bad fat or unhealthy fat)
2. Unsaturated fats (also known as good fats or healthy fat)
Unsaturated fat is of two types
(i) Monounsaturated fatty acids
(ii) Polyunsaturated fatty acids
(iii) Omega 3 fatty acid(it is included in polyunsaturated fatty acids)
3. Trans fat
These are the types of fat which I ‘ll describe in the upcoming articles individually in details. After reading that you will have to decide is saturated fat is really unhealthy or not, or unsaturated fat is healthy or not and in which food item you ‘ll get trans fat.
